Quote of the Day

There are two lasting bequests we can give our children. One is roots, the other is wings.

BEFORE SESSION CHECKLIST

Everyone should be dressed in the same color. This is particularly important if we're doing color portraits. If you prefer black and white images, then it's just important that everyone stay with the same tonal values in their clothing - pastels/whites or darks/blacks.

For truly timeless portraits, try to stay away from patterned clothing or clothing with large logos.

If your child has a bear or blanket that you want in the portraits, don't hesitate to bring it. Toys or rattles that seem to get a little one's attention are also welcome.

For newborn sessions, at least one parent should wear or bring a long-sleeved, solid black shirt. You will be the primary prop for your baby in most of the poses we do; nothing in the studio is safer than you!

Clothes for the new baby are not as important; most newborns are photographed either nude or in just a diaper. Adults (or anyone who will be holding the baby) should bring at least one change of clothes. You will definitely need them!

Outside portraits are beautiful, and the children tend to be more themselves in them. Please keep in mind, however, that there are small time windows for these types of portraits, especially in the fall and winter. Typically we schedule outdoor portraits between 8-10a.m. or 2-5p.m., depending on the time of year.

If any of the children are sick, please give us a call to reschedule your appointment. We don't mind a bit, and there is no penalty for doing this. We do ask, however, that you call as soon as possible to let us know you won't be coming.

DURING YOUR SESSION

Every session is different. Sometimes, things move along great, and sometimes, as in newborn sessions, we have to be able to stop and feed the baby. Whatever the situation, we will not rush your session. We cap the time limit at three hours; however, we've never had to use all of that.

We ask that you please keep an eye on children who aren't being photographed. We don't want anyone to get hurt while our attention is focused on the child in front of the camera.

AFTER YOUR SESSION

Within two weeks of your session (usually it's three days), your portraits will be available for viewing online. If you do not have the ability to access this online gallery, you may set up an appointment to view the images at our studio. Once the gallery is online, we will accept orders at our published costs for two weeks. After that, all portrait orders will be upcharged 25% of their cost. For example, a $20 print will cost $25 if ordered more than 14 days after gallery posting. All prints orders must be paid in full before the order will be sent. As payment, we accept cash, personal checks, or credit cards through PayPal.

After orders are submitted, portraits will be returned within four weeks. Most of the time, our orders go through in under two weeks, however, there are some times (particularly around the Holidays) when that doesn't happen. Please take delivery time for portraits into account when booking your session!
